Cosplay Thing

Rules:
1. Post the rules
2. Answer each question truthfully
3. Tag 3-5 people at the end

+++

1. What was your first cosplay? (Think hard on this)
Fail Tobi...My first cosplay was also the first one I've ever made, Hooded Tobi. I borrowed my friend's mask and took it all to school. It was just so bad...

2. Did someone get you into cosplay? Or on your own?
My friends went in cosplay to AX07. They tried to get me to do Kiba, but I was new to everything, so I became the photographer. Anyways, since he was one of the first cosplayers doing Tobi, he got a lot of attention. I couldn't help but notice this attention seeing as how I'm really vain and an attention seeker, so I decided to cosplay Tobi too.

3. What is your favourite cosplay?
Aang right now, but only because I have two cosplays. I have a feeling that my beast boy cosplay will be my favorite. Facepaint ftw!

4. Which is your least favourite?
Tobi. It's seriously getting repetitive for me and without the fandom, I think I'll be retiring next year. Also, there are WAY too many BAD Tobi cosplayers out there. I know I don't have the best mask now, but I made several before I perfected one mask which my friend currently has. I felt like I didn't need to go any further, since I proved to myself I could do it. No offense to all those other Tobi cosplayers, but I have yet to see another one that pulls it all off, including the hair. :P

5. At conventions, do people compliment you on your cosplays?
Only if I mention that I made it.

6. How many have you done?
I've made 5. 1st Tobi. Current Tobi. 3rd Season Zuko (for friend). Raver Tobi (yes. I've been improving it). and FN Aang. I'm working on Beast Boy right now for Halloween.

7. What are the top 5 on your list of "Want to Cosplay"?
1. Ganta from Deadman Wonderland
2. Sokka from Avatar the Last Airbender. (I was originally supposed to do him.)
3. Definitely want to attempt Gopher from Soul Eater by AX10
4. Wicked from 1/2 Prince
5. Fuery from Full Metal Alchemist (might happen since I'm being pressured into doing it)
6. I added 6 because I forgot about...shoot. I just forgot. Oh ya. I might do Danzo or 3 Jinchuuriki from Naruto.

8. (Girls only) What female cosplay do you want to do most?

9. What male cosplay do you want to do most?
hahaha. No (males only)? Gopher.

10. What do you prefer to do, make or buy your costumes?
Make. I love sewing. It's so relaxing when you have the time to do it.

11. Your most memorable experience? What makes it so memorable?
Oh geez. Definitely all of AX07. For reasons which confuse even me, I won't be telling them.

12. Your dream cosplay?
Something so incredibly epic that everyone knows and no one has ever tried.

13. Is there a pattern in your cosplays? If so, what? (Things like they have a certain personality, or hair colour)
Happy personality I guess. I want to do Gopher because of that face. :< Epic mouth. Also, he strays from the pattern.

14. Your most recent cosplay?
Aang..

15. What do you prefer? Cosplaying in a group or on your own?
Groups are win. WIN.

EVERYTHING MUST GO!!!

Mon Oct 26, 2009, 4:28 PM
Like everyone else, I'm in need of money. D: (I'll get a job after these horrible midterms) So, I've decided to sell of of my painting crap and a few cosplay stuff. I love to paint but don't have the time to do it at all. Plus, my instructor was crap and didn't teach me anything. So I'm just going to stick with charcoal.

All items are single unless otherwise stated. I will send pictures if you ask for them and are seriously considering in purchasing.

Painting Accessories: (I don't know what to call these but they are a must)
2-Tray Art Bin
1 Metal Palette Knife
1 Quarter Jar of Fast Linseed Oil
1 Jar - Turpenoid
1 Jar - Water Mixable Fast Drying Linseed Oil
1 Bottle - Linseed Stand Oil
3 empty glass jars - 1 Large, 1 Medium, 1 Small
2 Squirt bottles - 1 for water, 1 for Linseed Oil
1 Roll Artists tape
1 All Purpose Sanding Sponge with different grain types on each side
2 New Medium Texture 16"x20" Standard canvasses

Brushes:
14 Assorted Brushes of various shapes and sizes.
At least two of Oval, Square, Round, and Fan brushes.
Some are used but most are new.

Paints: (All paints are practically unused except White and Black)
Indian Red
Permanent Alizarin Crimson
Cadmium Red Light
Cadmium Orange Hue
Cadmium Yellow Light
Cadmium Yellow Deep
Yellow Ochre
Phthalo Green (Blue Shade)
Viridian Green
Phthalo Cerulean Blue
Phthalo Blue (Red Shade)
Phthalo Cobalt Blue
Ultramarine
Dioxazine Purple
Raw Umber
Burnt Umber
Burnt Sienna
2 Ivory Black
Titanium White

I also have some Charcoal pencils and sticks, kneading erasers, chamois cloths, chalk pastels, freaking awesome artist pens, 1 tackle box, and some other crap I'll throw in if you buy EVERYTHING (from the art section).

COSPLAY STUFF: (again, I'll send pictures for quality checks)
1 High Collar Akatsuki Cloak
1 Hooded Akatsuki Cloak (Can be used for Team Taka or for evil Tobi)
3 Tobi masks
1 Funk Madara Mask (I won't be cosplaying him anytime soon)

I saved all of my receipts for all of my purchases including fabric, thread, patterns, paint, clay, papercloth, foam, elastic, etc. I know how much everything costs, but I'm not a douche and will sell them for higher or the same prices. I love haggling (lol), so I'll cut you a few deals if you can talk the prices down based on any things you don't like about the items like quality, broken or not, something that needs to be sewed back on or fixed. I've compared prices to eBay and other retailers. I'll only send you estimates if you're serious about purchasing. You can either pick them up from me, or if you're far away, I'll post the whole lot on eBay. (the Shipping costs will be ridiculous though, and I don't want to deal with the packaging, so I'll bump up the prices).

It's the first Anaheim Comic Con, so why not go? It'll just be a 10 minute drive for me down Harbor Blvd. :D Most importantly, ELIZA DUSHKU from DOLLHOUSE is slated to be there! OMFG. If some of you guys noticed my status message on AIM, this was the reason for it. I had a minor breakdown and was hyperventilating. :\ But she's the real reason why I'm going. :3

Edit: I sent my application for volunteering in today. If I get it, then I get in for free all three days. Not sure if I can cosplay while doing it too. The organizer is going to try to get free pics with the celebs and their autographs for the volunteers if he can. I hope so. I'd still pay to get Eliza's autograph though. :P

Went to the first annual one this weekend. It was super small, but the plus side is that good cosplayers and cosplay groups get instant stardom! :P Also, super easy to bargain...and I mean I'm going to do it a lot more next year. I'll probably volunteer for Friday.

Long Beach Comic Con

Tue Oct 6, 2009, 6:05 AM
It was small and calm, but still pretty fun for a day. There was hardly anything there so I saw everything in about an hour.

My day started at 8:30am when I woke up and got ready to go. I decided to put my cosplay on at the con to avoid any questions from my family. After picking up my friend, we headed down to Long Beach and made awesome time. Google Maps said 31 minutes. We made it in 20. :P We arrived around 9:30 without any problems so far, but we ended going to the wrong entrance at first. Apparently, the Convention Center was also playing host to the Harvest Festival. So there were a lot of old Christian people in suits there. We headed back to the right entrance and got our tickets and free swag.

After scoping out the entrance lobby for cosplayers (just to assure myself I wouldn't be the only one), my friend and I headed back to my car where I changed into my full Fire Nation Aang cosplay. (Does that answer it Marimokun?) We headed back to the con and entered the exhibit hall. I got asked for a few pictures here and there while exhibitors were setting up. Not much was going on, since it was still around 10:30am. I hadn't gotten anything yet since I left my wallet in my car in order not to spend anything. Big mistake. I saw quite a few things that interested me that I vowed to buy later. Among the things that caught my eye was a porcelain Beast Boy figurine. (lol) After walking aimlessly around and checking out the panels for an hour, my friend and I decided to get lunch around noon. But first, I needed money.

We headed to my car again and I decided to take off the bottom layers. It was perfect weather with a slight breeze and the convention center had the AC to full blast, so there was no need for warm clothes. (Even when it's fall, it's still Summer in California.) Got my money and headed to CPK (California Pizza Kitchen). If you've never gone there, you should definitely think about it. I used to go a lot before the economy. It's funny how most of us will know what "economy" means when used in this context. Why am I typing all professional and junk? :\

We entered CPK and immediately, our host does this weird fanboy squeal and asks "OMFG ARE YOU FIRE NATION AANG!?" I replied with a yes and our host continues with the show. "OMG. Avatar is like the best show ever. I knew you were Fire Nation as soon as I saw you walking across the street." I'm glad that even without blue arrows, I can make a non-congoer freak out like that. He seated us right behind him after that. We had an awesome Carne Asada Pizza and water, and the entire meal ending up costing us $15 dollars combined. XD So inexpensive! After we got in, about 50 people showed up a few minutes after us (most from the Harvest Festival). The servers got a little overloaded, and we had to wait awhile for our check to be collected. I know what it's like to be a waiter so we left a 30% tip.

We headed back to the convention center to check out the Robot Chicken panel. Unfortunately, it was full and the fire marshal was there to tell us all to eff off. :\ We were sad but we headed back to my car to get my arrow paint. Putting those arrows on took us over and hour, but we killed a lot of time that way. We went back into the exhibition hall, bought some stuff, got a few more pictures and a lot of shoutouts from con-goers, but what was really cool (and freaky at the same time) was this family that was following me throughout the exhibition hall. The kids were definitely saying "See, it is the avatar. I saw his arrows" to their moms. I know they wanted a picture that entire time, but I think they were first time con-goers and didn't know how to ask, and headed back upstairs for the Peanuts panel. It was the first time in 25 years that any of the voice actors from the 1980's Peanuts run had seen each other, so they were really happy. It was the voice actors for Charlie Brown, Lucy, and Sally. During the beginning of the panel, all 3 of them kept looking at me, which made me think "wtf are they looking at me for?" When I remembered that I was in cosplay...total fail on my part. After the panel, we left (obviously) and the Robot Chicken panel was leaving too. We waited by the exit and Seth Green came out and waved at us.

After that bit of awesomeness, we basically just walked around some more until we left at 7:00pm. More pictures, more shoutouts, and after all this time the family I was talking about before finally asked for a picture with me. XD After that, I went home.

Long story short: It was good.

A New Week

Mon Sep 21, 2009, 7:06 PM
Update on my swine flu:

Since Thursday, my temperature has spiked way above and fallen way below normal. I have this insane cough that makes me just want to blow my brains out to stop them. And chills. They drove me mad. But I've been getting better since Sunday. Sunday was the first day I didn't have a fever, so I decided to go to school the following day. Big mistake, again. I feel even worse. So here's a list of things to watch out for if you catch the swine flu too.

Temperature spikes: 99.8F - 103.1F or 94.3F - 96.6F
Those were my normal temperatures almost 24/7 from Thursday to Saturday. These
temperature spikes are good to some degree. It means that your body is trying to
stabilize (which it did thankfully) rather than when you first get a fever,
whose purpose was to fight an infection by killing bacteria and viruses with heat.
Cough
This is the thing that will last for two weeks or something. Sometimes it's a dry
cough or sometimes it's flemy. As long as the flem is clear, then there is no
infection. Coughs are just your body's way of ridding itself of viruses in your
throat, so make sure to cover your mouth.
Chills
If you have the chills, do not cover yourself or attempt to make yourself warm.
It means your body is trying to get outside help to warm up to kill the viruses,
but most of the time, you already have a fever. It could push your temperature
past the limit, doing damage to your body and brain.

Other stuff you should do. Don't eat seasoned stuff. No fat, salt, sugar, or anything too strong. No coffee, smoking or alcohol obviously. Carry around some rubbing alcohol or anti-bacterial stuff wherever you go.

So to round it all up. I'm feeling better. Thanks for the well wishes guys.

In other news, my dad randomly brought home a giant desert tortoise today. o_o We're babysitting it for a week, but my dad said he asked us if we would want to over a year ago. wth? Oh ya, and even though I can't do my detox this week, I actually lost a little bit under 11 lbs from Wednesday to Sunday. Wow. That's cool, but at the same time scary.
